Shin Splint refers to the pain along with shin bone (larger bone in front of your lower leg). It is a cumulative stress disorder owing to repetitive stress to bones joints and muscles. It is common in dancers, runners, athletes, etc.

Causes – Shin Splint can occur due to lack of flexibility, Muscle weakness especially thighs and buttocks, Hard surface running, Inappropriate shoes while running, Participating in fast sports, Running downhill or uneven terrain, Having ankle and preexisting foot problems, Poor running form.
